~*~Sob story time~*~
I’m primarily a nanny, but with the summer season coming, my job will be over soon, and I don’t have any other kids to watch. Which means I’ll be scrambling to pay rent. It’s hard for me to find a job up here because so many people are looking for jobs, I’ve been turned down by Taco Bell and McDonald’s and basically every place high schoolers work, and I’m 21 already.
I’ve wanted to be a bartender since high school, but it’s really hard to get into bar tending if you don’t have an “in” or incredible luck; this place is willing to hire me, sans experience, and /teach/ me to bartend, IF I can attract enough people. I really need the rent money, and I also really need the experience if I am gonna get anywhere with bar tending; hopefully eventually I’ll be super-nanny by day, excellent barkeep by night. Opportunities like this don’t come by often, if at all, and I can’t afford bar tending school. If you’re under 21 or don’t live in Portland or are busy that night, it’s totally cool, but please invite your friends who might be able to make it!Come in, mention my name, buy a drink (it doesn’t have to be alcoholic!), they have karaoke including songs in spanish!
a huge part of me getting this job is me, specifically, bringing people in. they’re starting from scratch so we could make it into a really cool place to hang out! INVITE YOUR FRIENDS! tell them to mention me, Emma! watch me fumble over myself to make you a drink!
the interior is real cute and classic looking; the cash registers whirr, there are old photographs all over the walls, and awesome wood paneling. It’s cute, it’s cosy, you can sing your heart out, or just sit in the corner and enjoy yourself.Grand Cafe
